Final thoughts ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Operating system on the picture frame is Xubuntu. The setup is running Apache and PHP that handle the images. When the machine boots up, it logs the default user in and starts up Firefox automatically. The web-browser then connects to the localhost and starts a script that makes a connection to the Flickr. The code goes through the RSS stream containing the latest uploaded images, selects the ones that match the tag parameter given by the user and then picks one of the images by random. Thanks Akeeh for the script! So, there you have it. Not the most detailed project ever but hopefully enough to get you started. This was actually something that I had been planning on doing for years and I'm glad that I finally decided to go through it. My co-workers just love the frame and hopefully it is enough to compensate for my overly tidy office... or then again maybe not. :) ps. the cables will be routed via those wires coming from the ceiling in the end.
