So here's the uGoat, my iMac/HybRed inspired mod. PLEASE NOTE that this is my first "real" mod, so that's why it may appear... crappy. I am currently working on a second revision of this that will actually look good as well as take less than half the space. ![]() Ā First of all the specs: AMD64 3000+ OCed to 3200+ 15.4" 16:9 LCD 80gb HDD 6100 IGP 512mb RAM (Hopefully 1gb soon) ![]() The process of building this mod was so unorganized and noobish that it didn't even warrant a worklog. Basically I just got the LCD, disassembled it, cut a hole in my main case (an old DSS reciever), and mounted each one on opposite sides. As you can see here, I put the PC on one side and the CD drive and LCD electronics on the other. ![]() The PSU is stuck through both "chambers" of the case. On the back is a piece of metal with the fan extruding through. ![]() So the good: It works quite well indeed, hasn't fallen apart, and the screen is much brighter than it appears in the pictures. ![]() The bad (as you may see): The construction is actually quite terrible. As I am a noob at construction, it's held together mostly with hot glue *gulp* and metal epoxy. There are disturbingly few screws or bolts. It still has no top, everything is generally uneven, and CDs tend to fall INTO the cd drive, meaning I have to spend a half hour fishing them out. ![]() Even so, if you prefer it to be non-portable, the uGoat works great. I managed to make this with a friend almost entirely (yes, start to finish) in a single night. Remove this ad by registering or by logging in. Login with your Facebook account to comment:
